It's only the middle of June and we've already hit 90 degree weather here in Tennessee! While I love sunshine and warm weather, I do not like a hot house. In fact, earlier this week I turned the oven on in the afternoon to fix a roast and could not cool down until I took a cold bath later that night! That's when I decided to create a Summer Meal Plan. My Summer Meal Plan consists of recipes that do not require the use of the oven. Instead, I'm opting to use my crockpot, Instant Pot, … [Read more...]

So, this summer, I've been looking for healthier … [Read more...]

Summer time is upon us. Many have finished their school year and are enjoying the freedom of being out of school and all that entails. Even though we school year round I, too, am anticipating a little respite from the daily grind, a more relaxed schedule with the opportunity to work on some skills, catch up on some good books, and learn about some topics of interest that we didn't get to during the school year. Even during the summer months, though, our family thrives on structure, so we will … [Read more...]

Summer is almost here, and we are winding up our school year very rapidly. As I look forward to a nice relaxing little break, I'm also making plans for a summer of learning with interest-led unit studies, Five in a Row, nature study, and lots and lots of reading. More on this to come very soon! Since I have an avid, independent reader as well as a beginner, I wanted to create a challenge for them to want to keep reading during the summer months. Year round schooling helps to keep us in books, … [Read more...]

I posted recently about our decision to homeschool year round. The freedom and flexibility a year-round schedule provides is a boon to my type-A personality of getting things done and not wasting time. Plus, my little ones crave the structure. As does Mama. However, summer time homeschooling, I'm realizing, is a different … [Read more...]
