8/24/14 Weekly Meal Plan + Goals

Well, Thursday of this week is my "due date." I'm always a little reluctant to use that term since the baby will come whenever she's ready, but considering all three of our girls have arrived within 2-4 days of my due date, I'm thinking Baby A will be here this week. The meals we have this week will all be simple to fix because, well, honestly, my energy is limited and I'm feeling a little like I did in my first trimester...queasy and nauseous. We may even eat a few freezer meals if I get … [Read more...]

8/17/14 Weekly Meal Plan + Goals

38 weeks! I can't believe how quickly time is passing by!! I'm getting excited to meet this new baby although I admit that I'm a bit nervous about what our "new normal" is going to look like. I've never been good with change, and every time we've added a new baby to the mix, the transition has been a struggle for me. It's normal, I know, but I would appreciate your prayers in the weeks and months to come. Thank you!! This week is a busy one. We have American Heritage Girls Registration … [Read more...]

8/10/14 Weekly Meal Plan & Goals

Well, the blog has been silent for awhile, and I apologize. No, I haven't had the baby, but life has been full and any extra time I've had lately has been spent resting. At 37 weeks, there ain't a whole lot of energy in this old Mama, so I'm trying to be careful in how I expend it. This past week I returned from a leadership retreat that blessed me beyond belief and came home to celebrate my 35th birthday with my sweet family. We've been schooling in full force, and I've made some changes … [Read more...]

7/27/14 Weekly Meal Plan & Goals

My parents have blessed Daniel and me with a "children-free weekend"! So what am I doing? Catching up on laundry, grocery shopping for the week, and cleaning out the car. I even vacuumed out the window sills in our house. Yuck! Do you air out your home periodically? I've been reading Charlotte Mason's Home Education (aff link), and she recommends opening your windows just about an inch every so often to draw out the noxious air and pull in fresh air. For some reason, I've felt very stuffy in … [Read more...]

7/20/14 Weekly Meal Plan & Goals

This post may contain affiliate links.  I know I've been a little erratic with posting our weekly menu. The weekends are so full now that we've resumed homeschooling, so Saturdays have become a planning day for me. I plan our meals, activities & appointments for the week, and all of our school work. This coming week is a nice slow one compared with the past two in which we had swimming lessons every afternoon. The only plans are a visit from my parents early in the week and a visit … [Read more...]

Homeschooling First Grade: Our Goals + Helpful Resources

This post contains affiliate links. Thanks for supporting our family! See my disclosure policy for more details. Back in March as we were finishing up our Kindergarten work, I created a handy printable to help me plan for the upcoming First Grade year. As I researched and planned for homeschooling first grade, I realized very quickly we were going to be adding more subjects and broadening our focus. However, I also needed to remember that our primary aim is preparing our children for … [Read more...]

My 2014 Goals: A Mid-Year Update

Unbelievable. The year is halfway over. Where does the time go? Days seem to drag by like molasses, yet the weeks and months pass by like lightening. I can't keep up. While I, unfortunately, had to call it quits on the monthly goals linkup, I did want to report on my progress (or lack thereof) on my goals for 2014. Just to see how I'm doing. So you can see that I'm not as focused and disciplined as you might think ;) Here goes . . . My Goals for 2014  Spiritual (1) Develop a regular … [Read more...]

Six Considerations for Your Child’s Summer Reading Goals

Today, my friend Meghan of First Comes Love is sharing with us a topic dear to my heart -- setting goals for summer reading. With the kids on summer vacation, it's the perfect time to make some goals with your children to improve their reading skills and further hone their love of good books. See what advice this homeschooling mom of 6 has to offer & be sure to visit Meghan. Ahhh, summertime. Picnics at the park. The playground. Family vacations. Extra reading. What?? Yes, reading. At some … [Read more...]

Our Homeschooling Plans for May

I mentioned recently that I had some exciting news about our plans for the month of May. I'm not sure if "exciting" is the right word, but I did want to share what we'll be doing in our hiatus from "regular" homeschool course work. Kate has finished her Kindergarten course work, and while I really want to move forward and start First Grade (I'm really excited about our curriculum, which I'll share soon!), I'm reluctant for the following reasons: Teacher needs to reorganize the homeschool … [Read more...]
