I am not the mom who loves making crafts. In fact, I have tubs full of paints, glitter glue, pipe cleaners, and stickers that my girls would love to rummage through, use, and destroy the house with, but they are hidden in out-of-reach spaces in our utility room. Every now and then I will conjure up the courage to dig a box out, but only after we have set down newspapers and old towels and the girls have donned their smocks.

My #1 problem with arts & crafts is the mess.

But now I have found a fun new mess-free art supply for kids that my girls can use without my help and I don’t have to worry about the disaster they’re making. Let me tell you about it! {Scroll down to enter the giveaway.}

In exchange for my honest review, I received one (1) Kwik Stix 12 pack set from The Pencil Grip, Inc.

What are Kwik Stix?

Kwik Stix are solid tempera paints that require no water, no paint brushes, and no artist smocks. Essentially, they are paints on a stick. Kwik Stix resemble a glue stick and work in much the same way. Uncap it, twist it up, and paint. The paint dries within 90 seconds, and yet the paint looks incredible! The colors are bright and the paints really resemble real paint. However, unlike real paints that bleed and crack, Kwik Stix go on solid and stay that way.

My Takeaway

We painted these pictures 2 weeks ago, and the paint has not faded. The colors are still vibrant and beautiful. And the best part is that my girls can be artists any time they like because I don’t have to worry about the messy aftermath.

You can use Kwik Stix on cardboard, poster board, wood, or even plain manilla paper, which is what we used. They are non-toxic and, in my experience, come off surfaces quite easily with soap and water.

Let me just say when The Pencil Grip, Inc. approached me to do this review that I was hesitant and very skeptical. If my children could actually paint without my assistance and without all the mess that painting usually involves, then I would gladly allow them to do arts & crafts more often. I have been very impressed with Kwik Stix and highly recommend them for other craft-phobics like me!

Kwik Stix would be a great stocking stuffer or the perfect addition to an Art Box.

  1. This look amazing! I have been wanting to do some art projects with my kids, but like you, the thought of the mess makes it difficult to let them use paint.

  2. I have loved the Melissa & Doug paint books with the paint squares built right into the top of the page. While I still have to help with the water and such, no supplies needed besides the brush and some water!

  3. These look super fun!

  4. Our favorite art supply is paint. This mess free option looks amazing.

  6. i really like the markers that crayola makes where you can color on paper and when the marker runs off the paper it stops writing! so cool!
